Peoria Area Brake Repair
Brakes are arguably the most important feature on your vehicle, and if they're not maintained, it can be dangerous for you and others on the road. For a dependable stop each and every time, it's important to service your brakes regularly.
Friction brakes are the most common variety, consisting of a rotating wheel, disc or brake drum, and a non-moving part, a brake pad (sometimes called a shoe), which presses against the rotating part when the brake pedal is applied to slow or stop the car. These wear down over time and need to be serviced and/or replaced.

5 Warnings About Brakes
- Look and Listen. If you see less than 1/4 of your brake pads, chances are you need new ones. If your brakes are making noise, usually a high-pitched screech, you probably should bring your car in for service.
- Pulling. If you car pulls to one side while braking, it could indicate your brakes have uneven wear, or there could be foreign matter in the brake line. You might need fluid flushed and replaced.
- Vibration in your brake pedal can indicate that your rotors are warped. If your car has anti-locked brakes, it could also be a clue that they are not operating as designed. Vibrating warped rotors can feel like what happens if you slam on the pedal and anti-lock brakes engage.
- Grinding or "growling" is a loud metallic sound can indicate the pads have completely been worn down. It is a noise caused by metal rubbing on metal and can be very dangerous.
- Reduced responsiveness is an indicator that there is a leak in your braking system. It could be air in the line or an actual fluid leak. It happens when your pedal goes all the way to the floor, yet there is a delay in stopping. If there is a puddle under your car, it could also be evidence of a leak.
